Tena koutou e te whanau o Kaipara
It is with great regret that the Kaipara College Board has accepted the resignation of Principal Steve McCracken.
Steve has been successfully appointed as Principal at Whangaparaoa College and will assume his new role there at the start of Term 3, 2021.
The Board would like to thank Steve for his forward-thinking approach and deep commitment to our students, staff, local iwi and wider community since his appointment in 2017. We would also like to extend our thanks to Steve’s whanau for their support of Steve and Kaipara College during his tenure.
Steve has overseen significant roll growth and implemented extensive curriculum changes during his time with us, ensuring the school stands in good stead for the future. He has led the way in media appearances, ensuring that our school’s voice has been heard, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic in relation to our students and their wellbeing. Steve has been extremely vocal within the Ministry of Education, driving forward the campus redevelopment which is scheduled to commence in late 2021. Unfailingly, his absolute focus has been the hauora of the Kaipara College whanau and community. Steve will be greatly missed but we sincerely congratulate him on this exciting development in his career and know that he will look back on his time with us with absolute fondness.
A thorough recruitment process for Kaipara College’s next Principal will be commenced by the Board shortly and further information provided in due course regarding a formal farewell for Steve and his whanau.
