Website Update for Monday 2 November

Thank you all for your patience.
We have now had some of the test results back and they are encouraging.  There are no more positive results so far.  More results will come back tomorrow and we will have a much fuller picture then.
There are a number of options for dealing with the Hall roof.  The one that will produce the quickest and safest result is to clean the roof and spray a seal on it.  This will hold it until the summer holidays when the roof will be replaced.
Ministry of Education policy is not to allow students to be present on the site when this clean and seal takes place.  Therefore the Ministry has instructed us to close the school for the rest of this week.
The contractors employed to do this can complete this work by Sunday.  This will give us the school site back in a safe condition from Monday, 9 November, onwards.  Worksafe NZ support this action.
We have no alternative site that can accommodate the full school even for a few days.  So we have decided that there will be no school for Year 9 and 10 students until Monday, 9 November.
However we are anxious to get as much help as we can to our Year 11, 12 and 13 students.  Some staff are already communicating with their students via google docs and email.  We will encourage this to continue.
We are negotiating to use facilities in and around Rautawhiri Park so that staff can meet students and run tutorials and catch up classes for them.  I will confirm these details in an update tomorrow afternoon.
The prize-giving will go ahead on Wednesday night starting at 7 pm in the Helensville School Hall.  I hope to see lots of you there.
The list of students who are receiving prizes and certificates are in the following attachment. **Parent Update**
Parents of Year 11 students who have not experienced a senior prize-giving before, could you get your children to the Hall by 6.30 pm so we can give them a quick run through of the ceremony, please.
Thank you very much to all of you who are sending us supportive messages. We appreciate your understanding and are grateful for your support.
