Showdown:    Kaipara Wins

The man drove from the city to Helensville.  His mission; to judge the school play “Romeo & Juliet” for Showdown, the Auckland Secondary Schools’ Drama Awards.  He did not expect much from a small country school on a rainy Friday night.  When he saw Romeo & Juliet without an intermission he paused.  Then the play started.
When it finished he knew that he had seen one of the best productions in years.  The result was eight nominations in the ten categories for plays.
Over forty staff, students and parents from Kaipara went to the Sky City theatre for the awards evening on Wednesday night.  Early in the evening we won Best Props, then Josh Somervell won Best Sound for his superb sound production.
Finally it was the top trophy for a play.  The winner of the iTicket Award for the Most Outstanding Play of 2014 is Kaipara College for Romeo & Juliet.
A great acknowledgement of the hard work of the actors, the crew and their Director, our Drama teacher, Patrice Wilson.
