ANZAC DayThe College student leaders played a leading role in the Anzac Day commemorations in Helensville this year. The team was asked by the RSA to be the parade flag bearers; an honour that they were proud to discharge. They carried the forces' flags, the merchant navy flag and the national flags of New Zealand and Australia. Head Girl, Judith Glasson, found the experience very moving especially wearing her grandfather's medals. The meaning of the day struck home when a wreath was laid by a school mate's family for a serviceman killed in Afghanistan.
The student contribution was praised by a caller to Newstalk ZB who was impressed with the dignity that they brought to the commemoration service. The RSA was impressed enough to ask the College to repeat the duty for next year's centennial Anzac Day parade.
